Morphpackers heads to SPE Permian Basin Section Production Management Symposium

A number of the MorphPackers team will head to Midland Texas next month for the annual SPE Permian Basin Section Production Management Symposium.

The one-day event is aimed at promoting oil and gas professional networking, while disseminating technical knowledge. The Symposium is taking place on Wednesday April 3rd and is expected to attract 150 delegates.

Key focus areas are completion design and diagnostics, flowback strategies, water management and artificial lift. Themes of the event are:

  • The latest in horizontal well completion optimisation
  • Delivering greater productivity and optimal ultimate recovery at a lower cost
  • Water management systems optimisation
  • Finding the right timing in well-life for effective artificial lift applications

The Permian Basin continues to offer a huge opportunity for oil and gas production, with more than 20 of the US’s top 100 oilfields held within it.

MorphPackers’ Reece Roberts, is based in Texas and serves as Chair of the SPE Completions and Permian Basin Operations Study is looking forward to catching up with peers from across the globe.

He said: “This SPE event provides a great opportunity for oil and gas professionals to meet and discuss new technologies and the changing completion strategies within the hydraulic fracturing market. We at MorphPackers are major SPE fans and have spent many years supporting the international and local chapters.”

“The Permian Basin is one of the most prolific oil and gas areas in the US and is the epicentre of the country’s shale boom, so it’s no surprise therefore that it is a major focus for MorphPackers to disseminate our technology as we continue to drive forward an active international growth programme.”

Reece, who has 14 years’ experience working in the US oil and gas industry, has been a member of the SPE since 2013.

He continued: “There are thousands of generation one and two sub-optimally stimulated wells in the Permian Basin which can now be revisited thanks to modern refracturing techniques.

“MorphPackers has developed expandable steel packer technology that provides the lowest price to performance ratio for refracturing and remedial completion solutions. Offering a step change in performance compared to current evolving solutions.

“The SPE Symposium will allow operators and technology providers alike to come together and share experiences.”

MorphPackers is a leading provider of revolutionary and highly innovative expandable refracturing packers for the oil and gas industry and is building its business around four core values: teamwork; respect; integrity; and innovation.
